Immediate Aftercare

Leave the Bandage On: Your artist will cover your tattoo with a bandage. Leave it on for at least 2-4 hours to protect the area from bacteria.

Wash Your Hands: Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your tattoo to avoid introducing germs.

Cleaning Your Tattoo

Remove the Bandage Carefully: After 2-4 hours, gently remove the bandage.

Wash the Tattoo: Use lukewarm water and mild, fragrance-free soap to gently clean the tattoo. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel.

Healing Process

First Few Days

Apply a Thin Layer of Ointment: After washing, apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment recommended by your artist. Avoid using too much, as this can suffocate the tattoo.

Keep It Moisturized: Continue to apply a thin layer of ointment 2-3 times a day for the first few days.

Following Weeks

Switch to Lotion: After a few days, switch to a fragrance-free lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized.

Avoid Scratching or Picking: Your tattoo will start to peel and itch as it heals. Do not scratch or pick at it, as this can cause scarring and loss of color.

Things to Avoid

Avoid Direct Sunlight: Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight, as UV rays can fade the colors.

No Tanning: Do not use tanning beds or expose your tattoo to direct sunlight for at least 4 weeks.

Avoid Soaking: Do not soak your tattoo in water. Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and baths for at least 2-3 weeks.

Stick to Showers: Take showers instead of baths and avoid direct water pressure on the tattoo.

Long-Term Care

Use Sunscreen: Once healed, always apply a high-SPF sunscreen to your tattoo when exposed to the sun to prevent fading.

Keep It Hydrated: Continue to moisturize your tattoo regularly to keep the skin healthy and maintain the vibrancy of the ink.
